My Approach
The Nervous System + Progressive Leadership = Embodied Futures
Why Blend These?
Leadership has long been treated as a purely intellectual exercise — strategy, planning, structures, reports. But the truth is, leadership happens in the body first. In every moment of conflict, pressure, or opportunity, it’s your nervous system that decides whether you collapse, fight, flee, fawn — or stay present and grounded.
At the same time, organisations across sectors are striving to work in more progressive, values-led ways: distributing power, embedding inclusion, creating cultures of care. These are bold, exciting shifts — but they are only sustainable if people feel safe enough in their bodies to lead, collaborate and imagine differently.
What’s the Point?
Blending nervous system practices with progressive leadership means we can:
Move from reactive to responsive leadership
Create cultures where trust, care and belonging are the norm
Build teams that can withstand complexity and conflict without breaking
Make progressive change that is inclusive in practice, not just in policy
Unlock the creativity and innovation that only comes when people feel safe enough to take risks
Why It Matters
The challenges we face — in the arts, communities, organisations and beyond — are complex. They require leaders who can hold uncertainty, invite difference, and act with courage.
The nervous system gives us the tools to stay steady in that work. Progressive leadership gives us the frameworks to do it collectively.
Together, they create embodied, values-led leadership that is both deeply human and radically transformative.
